The former keeper's dwelling at the base of the light tower is now a museum for the lighthouse and the Thumb Underwater Bottomland Preserve.

The museum contains a number of interesting exhibits of shipwreck artifacts, lighthouse equipment and historic documents.

When the lighthouse was automated in 1957 many of the documents and artifacts were lost. The Lighthouse Society is working to recover some of these items and to locate additional items from the early 1900's in order to recreate how the keeper's dwelling must have appeared at that time.

The keeper would have used a desk like this to make his log entries.

The Society is setting up displays from the early 1900 era in the various rooms of the keeper's residence at the base of the tower.

If you have any artifacts, historical items, or documents to donate or loan to the museum (documents can be scanned and returned), please contact the Display Committee at exhibits@pointeauxbarqueslighthouse.org
