Although there is no record of Cecil serving at the Pointe Aux Barques Life Saving Station, Cecil was the son of Pointe Aux Barques Light Keeper, Andrew Jackson Mathewson. He served as a surfman at life saving stations in Buffalo, NY, Thunder Bay Island, MI and the Port Austin Life Saving Station about 10 miles north of the Lighthouse. Cecil was dismissed from the Port Austin Life Saving Station on May 31, 1911 for "Neglect of duty, admitted by him to be true".
