The USCG records show Andrew Mathewson as acting 1st Assistant from 8/23/1888 – 10/01/1889. Then he was assigned 1st Assistant from 10/01/1889 – 09/01/1895. He was then promoted to Keeper on 09/01/1895 – 03/31/1905. His son, Cecil Raymond Mathewson, served as a surfman for the Pointe Aux Barques Life Saving Station.
