Andrew was the son of John and Ann D. (Erasmison) Shaw. Andrew left Ireland and came to the United States in 1848 at age 24. He arrived in Huron City on June 19, 1851 and made his life lumbering and farming. On May 22, 1854 Andrew first married Mary meadon and they had four children. They were: Mary J., 1859; Emma, 1861; George A., 1864; and Ann, 1866. Mary died Jun 7, 1866 right after Ann was born. Andrew married his second wife, Rachel Clark, on October 28, 1870 and had five children. They were Andrew B. Jr. born 1872 who served as a surfman with the Pointe Aux Barques Lifesaving Station from 1893 - 1899; Maggie M, 1874; Carrier M., 1876; Elizabeth, 1879 and Arthur E., 1881. |
