What an exciting season this has been. Beginning with Comcast day last October which accomplished a ton of work for the keepers house. We installed climate control to preserve the artifacts in the Home. The climate control was paid for completely with donations from visitors and festival income.
Later in the Spring new items were added to the exhibits and the floors in two of the rooms had been sanded and refinished. The exhibits were reorganized and we opened with the dedication ceremony for the Life savers memorial with 150 in attendance.
The merchandise in the gift shop was revised over the Winter with books and DVDs added. Merchandise sales have been more than anticipated.
Janice Duer replaced Don Bullis on the Board and will be taking care of all publicity for the Society.
The Festival was very successful, both financially and creatively. Great weather and good attendance worked together very well. The Saturday evening dinner was excellent, the raffle very successful, the silent auction was great and the entertainment was the best ever. We had more member volunteers than ever before which was heartening.
At the last members meeting two new directors, Jean Wingblad and Larry Becker were elected. Our membership has risen to eighty two including individuals and families.
All the plaster on the second floor is being repaired in preparation for our second Comcast day in October.
Since June of 2005 the Lighthouse has averaged 1,000 visitors a month in season. THATS A LOT OF VISITORS. The efforts of the membership receive constants kudos from the folks coming through. Our Visitors have come from all over the world this year.
The first meeting for next years Festival will be September 25th. Next Year is the Lighthouse 150th. birthday so we want a great Festival.
ITS BEEN A GREAT SEASON.
Thanks to everyone. Bill Bonner, President
